Bloom Book
Introducing Bloom Book, a plant companion app designed to make plant care and identification intuitive, educational, and accessible. Acting as both a digital field guide and a personal plant assistant, it helps users identify species, understand their safety, and learn how to care for them. From houseplants to wild flora, Bloom Book encourages curiosity about the natural world while promoting safe and sustainable interaction with it.

Design Challenge
The goal of this project was to develop a complete visual identity for a conceptual company with a defined purpose. I created a brand centered around plants, focusing on community safety and education. The company’s mission was to help users identify plants, particularly those that could be harmful to pets or people, while also supporting general curiosity about the natural world. This project involved defining the brand’s look and feel, designing a user-centered app, and creating promotional materials that reflected its values and goals.
Audience
A big part of this project was figuring out who the app was for. I focused on understanding the users and designing around their needs to make the app feel simple and natural to use.
The Bloom Book app is designed for a diverse audience with varying levels of interest and expertise in plants. This includes: Enthusiasts. Plant owners, Nature Lovers, Educational Institutions, Pet Owners, and more.
Personas
To better understand and define my target audience, I created three user personas representing diverse ages, backgrounds, and professions. While each persona had varying levels of plant knowledge, they all shared a common goal in how they would use the app. This process helped me design with a clearer focus on shared user needs and motivations.
Prototyping & Wireframes
After developing my journey map, I moved on to creating wireframes. Rather than stopping at low-fidelity sketches, I chose to incorporate gradients to bring more depth and dimension to the design. This approach helped me visualize the interface more clearly and refine the overall aesthetic early on. Following this, I created a user flow diagram to map out the different navigation paths within the app. This process allowed me to identify potential pain points and improve the experience for new users, making the app more intuitive and easier to navigate.
Creating the Brand
After finishing my research, I began exploring the overall theme and visual direction for the company’s branding. I chose a cooler color palette featuring greens and light blues to convey a calm, natural, and refreshing feel that aligned with the app’s purpose and audience.
A Promotional Video
Lastly, I created a promotional video to advertise my app. I chose a fast-paced, showcase-style approach rather than a slower analytical one to capture viewers’ attention and highlight the app’s key features. This allowed me to incorporate three-dimensional mockups and display the depth of my design work, featuring most of the 50 screens I developed.
